Information about the speaker, Nick Pendergrast:
Nick Pendergrast has
a PhD in Sociology and his thesis focused on the animal advocacy movement in
Australia and the United States. The thesis also covered the environmental
impact of animal agriculture, a topic he has published on, with the book
chapter ‘Environmental Concerns and the Mainstreaming of Veganism’ in the book Impacts of Meat Consumption on Health and Environmental Sustainability (http://www.igi-global.com/book/impact-meat-consumption-health-environmental/134810).
He teaches Sociology at the University of Melbourne and has taught Sociology
for many years, as well as teaching Anthropology, Criminology and Politics.
